Refineries

Petroleum refineries fall somewhere between coal-burning power plants and natural gas-producing facilities in their levels of carbon dioxide emitted. In addition, they emit almost as many nitrogen oxides as coal-burning plants and significant levels of sulfur dioxide.

Like other emitters of greenhouse gases, refineries are under increased regulatory pressure to reduce and/or sequester these gases. Ternion Bio’s Photo BioReactors can be placed near refineries to recycle significant amounts of these harmful emissions.
